Broken Ornament Shoe

Why had I let her slip through my fingers?

It happened almost a year ago, right after the holidays. Since then, I'd tried filling the void with dozens of others, but she could not be replaced. I knew that now, and I could not imagine going through a holiday season without her.

I hoped there was a chance she still had feelings for me, too. If she was willing to forgive me, and to try and pick up the pieces, I vowed never to be that careless again.

This also exists as a holiday card!

Every shoe tells a story — I have a huge collection of glass figural ornaments. Most are vintage (I bought them new, but, well, you know, time marches on), so they cannot be replaced, and every one is precious. I talk to them as I unpack and hang each one, and again as I pack them away for the rest of the year. They are remarkably sturdy, but once in a while one does slip through my fingers or get packed away a little too tightly. Sigh.
