Candy Box Shoe

For a girl with such a sweet heart, she had kind of a brassy exterior.

 

She wasn't nearly as twisted as you might think by looking at her, but you could see why she had to play it that way, to avoid being eaten alive.

Every shoe tells a story — Part of this story was a goof on my sometimes limited skills: There's something not quite right about the back of the shoe, it's a little twisted, and I thought (at the time) it turned out way too yellow. It was my first time painting lace, and it was fun to discover that what you have to do is paint all the things that are not the lace.

 

This shoe was created for a show called "X, Y & (Sometimes) V" at ArtMetro in Cleveland, OH.
