Finn McCool's Shoe

I was starting to think of her place as my living room.

I knew for a fact I wasn’t the only guy who felt that way, but I didn’t mind sharing her. Far from it. She had a gift for making each of us feel like we’d been here just last night, laughing it

up and drinking it up with the same guys who were here now, whether or not we’d seen each other before in our lives. Her place was comfortable---like an old shoe---and about as good looking. I’d heard enough stories about her to know she’d been through both hell and high water. I was amazed the scars had healed as well as they had.

Gicleé print, signed & matted — $75

Every shoe tells a story — Irish ex-pats Pauline & Stephen Patterson own both Finn McCool's, hands-down the coolest, most comfortable neighborhood bar in New Orleans, and Tréo, a sleek, sexy cocktail-and-small-plates bar with an art gallery upstairs. The two places could not be more different from one another. I made a shoe to represent each, both based on the same shoe but looking as different as possible (believe me, I kept doubting it too, and had to keep laying one drawing on top of the other over and over again during the whole process to re-confirm).

The heel is an Irish Car Bomb, a shot of Bailey's dropped into a pint of Guinness. You'll have to come to Finn's to understand the rest.
